New Cardiac Catherization Lab on Order

Opening BRMC’s new heart center is a lengthy process that involves a great deal of planning, major construction, purchasing of equipment, and training and recruiting medical professionals. We believe that the complete advanced cardiac treatment program will be up and running in 12 to 16 months.

But even as planning and implementation of the new program proceed, BRMC will immediately begin expanding its cardiac program.

The first step to be taken is the replacement of our diagnostic cardiac catheterization laboratory with a modern digital cardiovascular imaging system that can be used immediately as a diagnostic tool to help ascertain if, and to what degree the patient has heart disease. Then, once the complete cardiac program is implemented, it may be utilized as a therapeutic tool to perform balloon angioplasties and stent implants.

Digital technology provides better images and more efficient image storage, and also reduces radiation exposure levels. The new cath lab equipment will be delivered before the end of December, and will cost approximately $1 million.
